About South Asia

The birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism and home to over 600 million Muslims. From the heights of the mighty Himalayan mountains to the crystal-clear waters of the Maldives, from crowded city markets to peaceful rice fields, South Asia is both awe-inspiring and heart-wrenching at the same time.

Every week in South Asia over 300,000 people pass into eternity, and most will spend that eternity separated from God. While statistics show this to be true we know that God’s Word tells us the harvest is plentiful. His Word tells us that people from every nation, tribe, people, and language will one day gather before the throne, crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

In light of this vision, our South Asian objective is to see No Place Left: Local ownership of the Core Missionary Task for every people and place. We are committed followers of Christ focused on the task of making disciples of all South Asian Peoples in fulfillment of the great commission. 

South Asia includes the peoples of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Today, the combination of access across the sub-continent, the realities of immense lostness, and unprecedented receptivity reminds us of the stewardship to work while it is day in South Asia. The task is huge, but we serve an awesome God! We must focus our eyes on the Finisher—the One who ran the race and was faithful until the end. We must stick to this task of making disciples of all South Asian peoples with clarity of vision, persevering prayer, and passionate tenacity! We must believe that seeing “No Place Left: Local ownership of the Core Missionary Task for every people and place” is possible—but only if the Spirit of God intervenes in history in awesome and powerful ways to turn the hearts of those living behind the veil toward the One who removes the veil!
